Atopic Dermatitis Clinical Trial Studying an Oral Medication

Living with chronic, severe eczema can be frustrating and painful. Join our early-phase clinical trial evaluating a cutting-edge oral medication, and receive dedicated care from dermatological experts without any charges to your insurance.
Understanding Atopic Dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis, commonly known as eczema, is a chronic skin condition characterized by inflammation, redness, and irritation. It often involves periods of flare-ups followed by periods of remission. Finding an effective, long-lasting treatment can be a difficult journey, which is why clinical trials are essential for developing innovative new therapies.
Symptoms
The symptoms of atopic dermatitis can vary widely from person to person, but frequently include:
• Intense itching, which can be severe, especially at night
• Dry, cracked, or scaly skin
• Red to brownish-gray patches, particularly on the hands, feet, ankles, wrists, neck, and upper chest
• Small, raised bumps that may leak fluid and crust over when scratched
• Thickened, leathery skin from prolonged scratching
Causes
While the exact cause of atopic dermatitis remains unknown, it is generally understood to be related to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. An overactive immune system responds aggressively to irritants or allergens, producing the inflammation that causes the symptoms. A genetic variation can also affect the skin's ability to retain moisture and protect against bacteria, irritants, and environmental allergens.
