Pediatric Atopic Dermatitis Study

Help advance medical care for children with severe eczema. We are currently enrolling participants for a clinical study evaluating an injectable medication, already approved for adults, to safely treat pediatric atopic dermatitis.

What is Pediatric Atopic Dermatitis?

Pediatric atopic dermatitis, commonly known as eczema, is a chronic skin condition that affects millions of children. It compromises the skin's barrier function, making it more vulnerable to environmental irritants and allergens. For many families, managing this condition can be overwhelming, as it often disrupts a child's sleep, comfort, and overall quality of life.

Symptoms of Pediatric Atopic Dermatitis

The signs of atopic dermatitis can vary from child to child, but they generally cause significant discomfort. Common symptoms include:

•  Intense, persistent itching, especially at night
•  Dry, cracked, and scaly skin
•  Red to brownish-gray patches, often on the hands, feet, ankles, wrists, neck, upper chest, eyelids, or inside the bend of the elbows and knees
•  Small, raised bumps that may leak fluid and crust over when scratched
•  Thickened or swollen skin from prolonged scratching

Causes of Pediatric Atopic Dermatitis

While the exact cause of atopic dermatitis remains unknown, it is widely believed to result from a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Children with a family history of eczema, asthma, or hay fever are at a higher risk. An overactive immune system can trigger inflammation in the skin when exposed to certain irritants or allergens, such as harsh soaps, pet dander, or sudden temperature changes.

About the Clinical Study

We are conducting a clinical study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an injectable medication for children. This medication is already market-approved and successfully used in adults, and researchers are now studying its potential to provide relief for younger patients.

Participation Criteria

To be eligible for this study, patients must meet the following requirements:

•  Be between 6 months and 12 years of age.
•  Have a documented history of atopic dermatitis for at least 1 year (or 6 months if the child is exactly 6 months of age).
•  Have a history of prior use or failure to respond to prescribed topical medications.
•  Have a parent or guardian who is able and willing to comply with monthly study visits and daily at-home diaries.
